- What is Organic?
- Organic means the plants are produced using methods that do not involve modern synthetic inputs such as synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Organic ingredients are not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives. Certified organic ingredients cannot contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or be genetically modified (GM) themselves.
- Why does it matter that personal care products have organic ingredients?
- It is important to select personal care products with organic ingredients because many of these ingredients penetrate the skin and can be introduced into the bloodstream. Personal care products without organic ingredients introduce synthetic, man-made chemicals into the bloodstream in the same way. Organic ingredients contain no synthetic or genetically modified components. Organic ingredients are of higher quality than their non-organic or synthetic counterparts.
- What is Vegan?
- Vegan, or veganism, is a lifestyle in which people choose to eliminate all animal products from their lives. All of our products have no animal byproducts in them and they are cruelty-free. You do not have to be a vegan to enjoy them!
- Why does it matter that personal care products are vegan?
- We feel there is no need to include animal ingredients in our products. Many soaps, lotions, shampoos, and other beauty products contain animal milks, beeswax, honey, royal jelly, lanolin, or gelatin (from the bones of animals). We are able to provide the same luxurious benefits without using animal-derived ingredients.
- What steps are taken to ensure a product or ingredient is vegan?
- Our products contain certified organic, plant-based ingredients. Certified organic ingredients cannot contain GMOs or GM components, which are often created with animal genes and/or DNA. We take steps to ensure our ingredients are cruelty-free (not tested on animals) and our products are produced on equipment that has never come in contact with animal byproducts.
- What is Fair Trade?
- Fairly traded is a term used to describe a rising social movement in which producers in developing countries are able to work under better conditions and promote and make their products sustainably. Ingredients used in our products that are imported are certified Fair Trade or supplied under Good Trade guidelines. Good Trade is a program set in place by one of our suppliers, which is designed to provide an alternative to Fair Trade. By avoiding Fair Trade certification agencies, Good Trade is able to provide better support for foreign growers and harvesters.
- Why does it matter that personal care products use fairly traded ingredients?
- Many plant-based natural ingredients must be grown in their native habitat worldwide in order to produce the highest quality product. Purchasing these ingredients under Fair Trade and Good Trade guidelines ensures the farmers and workers will be paid fairly and receive the moral and ethical treatment deserved by all.
- Are your products made in America?
- We handcraft each of our products in Apex, North Carolina, USA. We source containers, packaging, and as many ingredients as possible from the United States. Other ingredients are imported from around the world under Fair Trade and Good Trade guidelines.
- Are your products certified Organic, Vegan, or Fair Trade?
- At this time, our products do not carry any certifications. However, the ingredients we select are USDA certified organic and come from Fair Trade certified vendors or are supplied under Good Trade guidelines. We take great care in ensuring each ingredient contains no animal byproducts and is cruelty-free.
- What is the difference between the Day Cream and Night Cream?
- The Day Cream is intended to be applied in the morning during your usual cleansing routine as your daily moisturizer. The Night Cream is intended to be applied before bed, after washing the face. The Night Cream is heavier and designed to provide extra moisture while you sleep.
- Why do I need a natural deodorant?
- There are many health hazards associated with the chemicals in most deodorants/antiperspirants available today. We do not use any estrogen-mimicking ingredients or aluminum in our deodorant. Our deodorant is a true deodorant as it will help fight odor, however, it will not reduce or prevent sweating.
- Why should I use Soaking Salts?
- Soaking salts have a high mineral and nutrient content and provide a luxurious and soft feeling to your skin after your bath. Our soaking salts contain salts from the Atlantic Ocean as well as Epsom Salt.
- What is body butter?
- Body butter is moisturizing to the skin like lotion, but it similar to butter in its consistency. Body butter contains no water, and is made with Shea and Cocoa butters, which deliver rich and creamy moisture to your skin.
- Is your salt scrub like a sugar scrub?
- Our salt scrub has the same exfoliating effects of a sugar scrub, with the added benefit of the high mineral and nutrient content in the salts. Many sugar scrubs are created with genetically modified sugar from sugar beets and many sugars are refined and processed in non-vegan ways.
- How long will my products stay fresh?
- We recommend using all of our personal care products within 6 months. Refrigeration may extend the shelf life of your products, but is not necessary.
- Are your soaps and lotions biodegradable?
- Yes! All of our products are biodegradable since they are plant-based and free of chemicals. It is important to note that the term "biodegradable" is not regulated and can be found on many personal care products using ingredients which are truly not biodegradable and often bad for the environment. We also encourage you to recycle the containers. Recycling may not be available in your area.
